The Meyer Roundabout

Welcome to our blog! I am a bit nervous and excited to start a blog. We are starting a family and I would like to journal about it here along with pictures of the process. Additionally I will use this as another avenue to share our adventures as a family. A bit more private than the social network.

38 weeks

Baby has dropped quite a bit within the last few weeks and is begining to feel heavy. I'm still in love with the little or not so little anymore kicks, they too have gotten lower. I have had a really hard time getting this blog to work on my computer so will keep this short. I am struggling to get the room pictures to load and I don't know why, very frusterating. I realized in the last couple days that I should pack a bag for the birth center so I have found my list and have added a few things and will start to put that bag together. My mom came over last weekend and we did a shopping trip to Target to get some necessites and organization things for baby's room. Mom scrubbed our kitchen, including fridge and floor underneath the fridge and also our cabinets and it looks so nice. We had some fun too! Shopping in Missoula and here in Hamilton, glad she could come over to help to get the room set up and help me to organize and wash baby clothes. Can't believe how little some of those onsie's are, will be fun to fill them with that little baby. Terri, my oldest sister is coming over this weekend to stay until after baby is born. I am excited to have her here to be our birth assistant! She will be a great support to us.

35-36 weeks

Here we are down to one month to go. The past few weeks we have accomplished quite a bit. The garden has been tilled and rows are prepped. I did not do this labor but did pull out my old camping mat and sit and weed the strawberries. haha not the easiest thing to do with a baby belly but nice to be outside. Last weekend I went out with Nate and friends and lounged in my chair watching them climb. I was so very thankful for spring this last week as my feet swelled up to the point that I did not want to wear socks. Luckily I could still fit into my maryjane crocks. I did not get a picture of my "hobbit" like feet although now I wish I had because it was quite humorous. My production shoes at work were so tight that I wore booties over my crocks, hehe. I attended my weekly yoga class on Thursday and that really helped my poor feet. Since that day the swelling has gone down quite a bit. We are going to our appointments with the midwife once a week now and that feels so odd. This next weekend is my shower with my friends here in Hamilton and I'm very excited to see everyone together in one place and celebrate this Baby Meyer. The whole pregnancy has gone so fast and I have no doubt that these last few weeks will fly by as well.

34-35 weeks

Picture with pony tail was 34 weeks and baby has grown a lot in the last few weeks! The photo of me dressed up is from Easter Sunday. We went to church and then had a buffet lunch with friends at the Naughty Moose (south of Darby) it was really nice.
Last weekend I drove over to Idaho for a quick trip. Friday night Terri hosted a baby shower at mom and dad's house. Mostly family, but a friend from college (Ariel) joined us! We painted my belly and I will need to get photos from Mom to post here later, baby was moving the whole time. It was so nice to have girl time and celebrate with friends and family.
We are continuing to organize and get rid of things in our small house. This week we purchased a new table and chairs and downsized to a smaller folding table for our desk in the living room. Progress is slow since we mostly work on the house on the weekends but I am really happy with what we have accomplished. Nate is out tilling the garden as I type! We have expanded the garden this year and I hope that baby enjoys time outside this summer so we can manage the weeds together :)
I have hit the point in the pregnancy where I will go to apts. in Missoula once a week from now until baby is here. Think I will ride up with Nate when he goes up for class so work schedule will get a little more complicated but not too bad.
Spring is here and hope it has arrived for everyone else.

Getting ready for baby

33 weeks

Wow these weeks go by fast! Nate finished the dresser this week so we now have a place to put baby clothes! I think it looks great! I have some hand me down clothes already to fill the drawers so that will be fun once I get them washed. This week I wore my new favorite shirt to work that says "we're hoping it's a pony". It's not such a funny shirt when I have to explain it to my supervisor, ah well it's not everyone's humor I guess.
We are continuing to make more and more room in our little house. Amazing what adding a few shelves can do to make our lives a bit more organized. We'd like to get the crib up next weekend and see how the rocking chair fits into the bedroom with double size bed and crib too. The cats are not going to be so happy when we move that chair, they have claimed it as their new post so we'll see how that goes.

32 weeks

Spring is here and we took a nice little walk outside at a nearby canyon, Blodgett. We didn't go far but it was nice to get out and hike around on the rocks.

This past weekend we have continued with the de-clutter of our house. I have spent a lot of time on the floor sorting through photos and papers, whew.

Nate is working on sanding and then finishing our dresser for the baby's room. It looks really nice!

A co-worker has offered to take some pregnancy photos so this week we will be taking those outside hopefully. I'll post em later. Hope everyone is warming up! Happy spring!

Moving right along

30 weeks below and 31 weeks far left

Ok so it seems I make time about every two weeks to write a post on my blog. Well better than no post at all I suppose! The last couple weeks have been extremely busy and exciting. Last weekend we drove over to Idaho to attend a birth class with Terri. We learned many coping techniques with lots of practice and had a great time. It was very educational but also a nice time to connect on the same level with Nate. After the class on saturday we celebrated my birthday with my family and Nate's parents who had traveled up from WY to spend Sonya's spring break with us. The whole entire weekend was all "baby"! Sunday we attended the baby fair in Spokane and then shopped around at a few stores that we do not have access to here in MT. It was really fun being able to pick out crib set with both mothers! This past week Nate's parents helped us out alot by painting the extra bedroom, finding a dresser, and sorting many different things that needed a new home. It was a great help and we will continue to sort until everything has a new home. As I type this Nate is still sanding the dresser that was found at the local flee market, it was an awful pea green and was discovered that it's made out of maple wood so they decided to refinish instead of re-paint. Great find, but alot more work to re-finish, but the end prodcut will look really nice.

Baby is grow very fast lately, head is currently positioned downward and so I get lots of kicks and or hand movement up high. I really enjoy all the movement, so much fun! Baby also likes the "Indigo Girls" we went to their concert this week and baby danced the whole time!

Here are the latest photos, I get a lot of "oh you're so tiny" although I feel big enough and my midwife assured me that I am measuring Perfectly. Sorry formatting is not my friend on this site. Plus our mouse is screwed up so i can't seem to put pictures where I want them to go!

29 weeks Pregnant on my 29th Birthday!

28 Weeks

29 Weeks

The last two weeks we have done alot of growing. These two pictures are deceiving because I think I look bigger in the 28 wk picture but I assure you that they are not mixed up. I think it's because my shirt is pulled lower on the 29 wk picture.

This week Chloe (cat) has learned how to sit next to me or fit on my lap without being on my belly. I think this concept is difficult for Phoebe so she sticks to Nate's lap most of the time.

Not sure how they will cope when baby is in our arms, they'll figure it out I'm sure. Here's a picture of Nate and Phoebe cuddling on the coach. Then Nate with all the pets surrounding him.

27 weeks

ah yep getting harder to bend over and tighten my ski boots :) but my ski jacket still fits and that's about the only one that does at this time. I will be skiing less downhill and maybe more crosscountry because our snow is so hard and icy, not fun.
The cats are both trying to fit on my lap lately and that just does not work! Not sure they get what is going on.
This next week I will be traveling to Virginia to see cousin Shanna! We might see if we can spot some whales that winter in the area.
We have begun the big chore of cleaning out the extra bedroom that will become babies room/guest bedroom. We already have lots of toys in the closet from friends. I am so blessed to know lots of moms in the area. I hope we can fit the crib, changing table, rocking chair and bed in the bedroom, we'll see!

Think I may have scared my midwife just a bit with this recent tattoo. I pulled up my shirt to listen to heart beat and she said "oh did you just get that?" haha does it really look real? funny.

I've had alot of nice comments from people this week. "oh you have really blossomed this week" and "you are soo cute!"

First and very special baby sling

Here I am with my new gardening hat and baby sling from a special lady in Thailand! Not the best picture of the sling but it is beautiful. Can't wait to use it maybe in the garden?!

24 Weeks

My latest picture includes the first of many tattoos that Terri gave me for Christmas. I was disapointed when I forgot to put one on my belly for the ultrasound last week. I'll make sure to surprise my midwife at the next visit! I've included a few of my favorite ultrasound photos.

Busy growing a human

Hi all!

Here's pictures from week 23 we skipped week 22 because it was a busy work week and then we spent the weekend in West Yellowstone with Nate's parents. Sonya brought me the most amazing gift from Thailand a baby sling that she bought off of a local woman. It's beautiful and I can't wait to use the sling. I'll post a picture of the sling soon, Sonya did get a picture of the lady who made and used the sling so I am so excited to frame that photo.

We had our first official ultrasound last friday and everything looks great! Fluid levels are good and baby's measurements are right on track. The most amazing part of the ultrasound for me was to see the 4 chambers of the heart and see the valves moving blood throughout baby's body. I have two hearts right now! So fun. Last week sometime I was sitting at the piano and nate was on the coach and looked over at me and said, "you look pregnant". So I guess it's official to him I look pregnant, haha. I am working on making a list of items that friends have said that I can borrow or use for the baby. When that is complete then I hope to start a registry at Target. We have alot of organizing to do in this house but for the time being I am really enjoying my energy and playing out in the snow. So the organizing will just wait. We are contemplating moving into a larger house but that would mean we will have to find the perfect rental, so we'll see if that exist. Must have a tall fenced in yard for suga, spot for garden, 3+ bedrooms so we can have a seperate study/sewing room and ofcourse baby room and our bedroom. We'd love a dishwasher but not a requirement at this time, oh wait bottle washing is not going to be fun huh?

Growing a human continued

HI all, we have reached our half way mark for the pregnancy and I can't believe it's half complete. In the past few weeks I have had a lot of people ask me, "have you felt baby move yet?" and my answer was "I'm not sure yet what I feel, I feel something like gas but can't be sure that it was the baby". Now I'm sure I feel the baby! It is a bit different than gas, incase you were wondering but I have been told that's what it feels like? I like the bubbly description better, I can just picture little Meyer flailing about when I feel it at night when I go to bed, most often. I'm excited that I am starting to look pregnant, doesn't look like I gained the "freshman 15" anymore, haha. Although finding pants that are long enough for prego ladies is just as hard as finding pants that fit anyone with long legs. I will just wear short pants I guess because they fit everywhere else. Before the end of 2009 baby and I went snowshoeing in WY, sledding at the lake (parents house), and then downhill skiing New Years Eve day. So far have felt great doing all those activities and hope to continue to do as much activity as long as I remain comfortable.
Soon we will have our official ultrasound and will post those pictures soon after.
We had a very blessed Christmas with my family in Idaho this year, loved all the time with my nieces and nephew. I am very excited for 2010 (weird) lots of changes this year, Extending our family, and Nate will be going back to school soon for his graduate degree in Missoula. I look forward to all of these changes with a bit of anxiety but mostly excitement to see what is in store for the Meyer family. Happy New Year!
